THE INVISIBLE MAN: ¡UNIVERSAL VUELVE A LA CARGA CON UNA NUEVA VERSIÓN, YA SIN DEPP!

No sabemos si una o dos buenas noticias:

La primera es que, a pesar del fracaso de The Mummy, Universal tiene una nuevo proyecto para sus monstruos.

La segunda es que NO TIENE YA NADA QUE VER CON EL PROPUESTO DARK UNIVERSE de historias compartidas. Y que por lo tanto los actores seleccionados no protagonizarán las nuevas cintas, como es el caso de Depp.

El presidente de producción de Universal plantea así la nueva etapa:

“Throughout cinematic history, Universal’s classic monsters have been reinvented through the prism of each new filmmaker who brought these characters to life.

We are excited to take a more individualized approach for their return to screen, shepherded by creators who have stories they are passionate to tell with them.”

Leigh Whannell, director de Upgrade, será el nuevo encargado, produciendo Jason Blum.

¡Deseamos a la iniciativa más suerte que con el anterior intento!

¡BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN SE APLAZA!

¡Pues parece que echamos las campanas al vuelo muy rápidamente!

La productora acaba de anunciar que postpone el proyecto y que este no se estrenará ya en la fecha anunciada de 2019.

After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone ‘Bride of Frankenstein.

None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together.
Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.

Entre las razones, parece que están esperar a que Angelina Jolie termine la secuela de Maleficient.

Pero también dicen que Bardem y los demás actores no están comprometidos hasta que no vean que un proyecto sólido sale adelante.

Lo cierto es que le van a dar más vueltas al guión, que seguro le hace falta...

Las esperadas "secuelas" del fracaso de The Mummy se han hecho sentir al final cuando menos lo esperábamos.

¡COMIENZA LA PRODUCCIÓN DE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN!

A pesar del batacazo, sobre todo creativo de la Momia, el Dark Universe continúa con una nueva película.

Lo rarito es que presenten a La Novia antes que al propio Frankenstein...

En cualquier caso, el año que viene no habrá estreno, y esta queda ya para 2019.

Habla el director, Bill Condo.

I’ve actually really gotten small for movies like Kinsey and Mr. Holmes and those films I really enjoy making too because you trade one set of pressures for another, you don’t quite have all the money but you do have a great amount of freedom from any kind of expectations, frankly.

Bride of Frankenstein isn’t a small movie. I’ve got the same team together that made Beauty and the Beast and we’re building big sets and designing big set pieces so it’s a pretty big movie.

We start on February 1st, 2018 so it’s the early days but just to be here in London, starting to see locations and to talk about sets that we’re building, it’s very exciting.

For me, the James Whale movie is really right there in the pantheon for me. 

As you know, the Bride is a character who appears in the last five minutes and then is destroyed so it’s a way to almost continue the movie that you imagine the movie he might have made the third Frankenstein movie but in 2018

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Y QUASIMODO TAMBIEN SE UNEN AL DARK UNIVERSE

Universal no se quiere quedar atrás en la cantidad de Monstruos que ficha para su nuevo Universo, y planea nuevas versiones de estas dos películas, incluidas por haber sido interpretadas originalmente por Lon Chaney, todo un clásico del Terror.

Así, las obras de Victor Hugo y Gastón Leroux se incorporan enriqueciendo potencialmente las posibilidades de este mundo.

Se ha comentado que por supuesto Drácula formará también parte de el, aunque parece que no será de las primeras reinterpretadas, dejando que se olviden las muy recientes versiones ya descartadas.

El director de La Momia apunta algunos actores que quieren fichar:

“I’d love to bring Michael Fassbender in, I’d love to bring Jennifer Lawrence in, I’d love to see Charlize Theron in there, Angelina Jolie…”

DARK UNIVERSE: JOHNSON COMO WOLFMAN, JOLIE COMO BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN

Antes de que todos los actores de Hollywood tengan ya uno o dos papeles de superhéroes, Universal se apresura a anunciar sus favoritos para acabar interpretando al resto de sus monstruos.

Habrá que ver si al final se concreta, pues al menos Johnson está más que pluriempleado en el futuro más inmediato...

BARDEM Y DEPP SE UNEN AL DARK UNIVERSE DE UNIVERSAL

¡Magistral la jugada de Universal que anunciando hoy los dos fichajes convierte a la peli de la entrada anterior en su perfecta publicidad!

Bardem comenta encantado:

Yeah, well, there are talks. And I would love to be part of it. Because it’s an iconic… speaking of an iconic character! I have the size of the head. [Laughs] That’s for sure. They’re not going to waste a lot of money in makeup, that’s for sure.


Deep, como ya se anunció, será el Hombre Invisible...

Y para atraer al público a la primera entrega, nada mejor que cebar las del futuro y usar la nostalgia por los clásicos...

THE MUMMY: UN OSCURO UNIVERSO COMIENZA EN SU TRAILER FINAL

Pues la veremos, claro, aunque no parece que la película tenga mucho más que lo ya mostrado en los trailers...

Un inicio no demasiado prometedor para querer inaugurar ese Dark Universe...

THE MUMMY: SE PRESENTA MR. HYDE

Precisamente este es el tipo de revelación que las películas NUNCA deberían usar en su material promocional.

Una falta de fe que resulta... MUY MOLESTA.

THE MUMMY: TOM CRUISE DICE QUE QUIERE VER ESTA PELÍCULA

¡Falta ver a cuantos más nos convence...! ;-)

A nosotros nos gusta PULP FACTION tanto como a Cruise su propia peli.

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN: UNIVERSAL QUIERE A BILL CONDON COMO SU DIRECTOR

Su último trabajo también contaba con un "monstruo", ya que ha sido BEAUTY AND THE BEAST para Disney, la versión de imagen real.

Sería muy apropiado ya que también fue el director de Gods and Monsters, la película interpretada por Sir Ian McKellen y centrada en la figura de Whale, el director de la versión original de Bride of...

También ha trabajado con vampiros, aunque en este caso han sido los de Twilight en sus últimas entregas.

La nueva versión parece que tendrá un claro toque feminista, ya bastante presente en la original, claro.

Lo del Dr. Jeckyll como líder de una sociedad para luchar contra el Mal... Bueno, todos sabemos que no va a acabar muy bien, je.

Pero está un poquito metido con calzador... ¿no...?

Uno de esos trailers donde te cuenta TODO TODITO de la película, vedlo con precaución...

Esta vez los efectos especiales no son nada especiales, sino méramente físicos.

VAN HELSING NO SERÁ OTRA PELI DE SUPERHÉROES

Interesantísimas y agudas desclaraciones que nos tranquilizan: el Doctor Cazavampiros regresará en una versión más humana y menos hiperbólica que la que encarnó Jackman.

Well I guess the biggest thing that’s already been said is it’s contemporary, it’s a modern-day reimagining…

 I can talk about my emotional state of what I’ve been passionate about or sometimes frustrated by are the number of films where we find an extraordinary character with superhuman abilities that becomes a hero to solve a problem that a normal person cannot solve.

And I was eager to try and buck that trend and showcase someone who had no extraordinary powers, just resourcefulness and will and kind of a stubbornness who’s able to tackle some of these bigger problems.

Because I don’t like the idea that we’re infusing our public and our pop culture with the idea that only super people can solve the world’s problems. 

I like the idea of the everyday hero stepping up to the plate and getting things fixed.”

“I don’t know what it’s going to look like at the end of the process, so I’m gonna withhold on commenting on really where it lands. 

I can say that my intent stepping in was to make it as scary as possible, partly because I know how to do that, and also because when you’re the only human surrounded by a bunch of supernatural creatures, that’s gotta be absolutely unnerving.”

EL DIRECTOR DE LA MOMIA: "NO SE PUEDEN CREAR UNIVERSOS CINEMATOGRÁFICOS POR DECRETO"

Alex Kurtzman, descartando que la última versión del vampiro "Dracula Untold" forme parte del nuevo universo de monstruos, ha realizado unas interesantísimas declaraciones donde queda claro que ha tomado nota de los fracasos de otros a la hora de originar universos cinematográficos:

"I believe strongly that the only way you can build a universe is not to start by trying to build a universe.

If you want to get there, the only way you’re going to get there is if the audience allows you to get there. Meaning, you have to do great individual films first. 

The audience has to fall in love with those movies first, and those characters first, and if they do and you develop an organic story reason to start bringing them together, great!

But you can’t start with ‘Let’s just mash everybody together’… 

In order for you to enjoy ‘The Mummy,’ you have to have a satisfying ‘Mummy’ experience. If we are then in that context able to set up a larger world? Great!

 But the setup of that larger world and whatever characters [star Tom Cruise] may meet over the course of the mummy movie have to be part of the mummy movie. It cannot take you out of that.”
