JAMES GUNN RESPONDE A LOS COMENTARIOS DE JODIE FOSTER SOBRE QUE EL CINE DE SUPERHÉROES ESTÁ ARRUINANDO HOLLYWOOD
De vez en cuando, directores o actores ajenos a los superhéroes sueltan alguna burrada sobre este creciente y exitoso género.
Esta merece la pena destacarse por lo certera Y EDUCADA respuesta de Gunn.
Por cierto...¿cuales serán esas películas SIN ALMA a las que se refiere...? ;-P
Foster ha dicho:
“Going to the movies has become like a theme park. Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking – you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.”
Y Gunn responde:
"I think Foster looks at film in an old-fashioned way where spectacle film can’t be thought-provoking. It’s often true but not always. Her belief system is pretty common and isn’t totally without basis.
I say not without basis because most studio franchise films are quite soulless – and that is a real danger to the future of movies. But there are also quite a few exceptions.
"For cinema to survive I believe spectacle films NEED to have a vision and heart they traditionally haven’t. And some of us are doing our best to move in that direction. Creating spectacle films that are innovative, humane, and thoughtful is what excites me about this job.
"But, to be fair, at least from Foster’s quotes, she seems to see filmmaking as something that’s primarily about her own personal growth.
For me, that may be part of why I do this, but spending many millions of dollars on a film has to be about more than that – it’s communication – so my experience is merely one spoke on that wheel. But I respect Foster and what she’s done for films and I appreciate her different way of looking at Hollywood’s landscape."

BILAL, UN HÉROE DIFERENTE, TRAILER
Película de animación que nos lleva a unas coordenadas y diseños diferentes de los que ahora se repiten en las productoras americanas.
DC TIENE PLANES PARA ADAPTAR QUESTION
Eso dice Mark Guggenheim, señalando eso si que el personaje está, como los de la división cinematográfica, vedado para el Arrowverso.
Habrá que ver si se trata de una película o una serie independiente de TV.
Siendo una de las creaciones de Denny O'Neil, su "Daredevil" para DC, no sería raro verlo en una serie análoga a las de Netflix.
DC: DONDE LAS LEYENDAS VIVEN, nuestro creciente grupo de series DC TV.

STAR WARS: JOHNSON RAZONA EL PAPEL DE LUKE SKYWALKER EN THE LAST JEDI
Hay que reconocer que el razonamiento de Johnson es realmente conexo: Si Luke hubiese regresado de manera épica le hubiera quitado todo el protagonismo a Rey.
Esta es una trilogía pensada para los nuevos personajes y a los demás solo queda despedirlos.
El problema está, claro, en si esa despedida está a la altura o no de los personajes que se han USADO para promocionar a los nuevos.
No lo estuvo en el caso de Han, no lo ha estado en el caso de Luke. Y tampoco, ya, en el de Leia, me temo.
La razón por la que Luke "compite" con Rey por protagonismo es que no han sabido dotarla a ella en dos películas de una personalidad e historia propia tan atractiva como la de su maestro. Ni Poe puede competir con Han, ni Finn nos ha maravillado como la atrevida Leia. No hablemos ya de Vader y las pataletas de su nieto...
Mal servicio para los personajes clásicos, mucho peor para los nuevos, que no llegan a sucedáneo.
Yeah. It’s something that, early in the process, the first thing I had to crack in the movie is why Luke is on that island. I had to figure out something that made sense, and you don’t know much about where’s Luke’s head is at coming out of “The Force Awakens.”
But what you do know is his friends are out fighting the good fight, and he’s taken himself out of the equation. So for me growing up, I know Luke as a hero. I know that he must think he’s doing the right thing by taking himself out of the equation, and that means he thinks the best thing for the galaxy is that he’s not a part of this and, by extension, that the Jedi are not a part of this. So that leads you down a certain path.
As I worked out that his arc was going to be coming to a place where he does this big heroic act that is going to be spread throughout the galaxy — basically taking back the mantle of Luke Skywalker, a Jedi master, a legend — it just slowly became clear to me that it would be this big grand act.
It would be an act of mythmaking. And if there was ever going to be a place in this entire trilogy to give him this emotional moment of a goodbye, this was probably going to be the most emotionally potent place to do it.
But I also have to say I’m not writing the next one, and I’m not sure what J.J. [Abrams] and [screenwriter] Chris Terrio are going to do in the next one with Luke. But setting up possibilities for the next one, honestly, it seems much like Obi-Wan going where he did after “New Hope.”
The possibilities seemed even more exciting in terms of what Luke’s place could be in the next chapter with him entering into this other realm as opposed to him having a lightsaber and being with our heroes. It opened more possibilities as opposed to fewer. I was holding my breath when I did it and I realized all these things, though I also thought, “S—.”
Mark had all these years to think what Luke’s triumphant return would be. Luke’s the hero coming back into this story, and the fact that this character and this movie could not be that — this character in this movie was by necessity what he had to be, and also in relation to Rey, that brought its own necessity.
If he comes in as just an optimistic fighter for the good guys, that gives Rey nothing to bounce up against — that’s just an older version of Rey. So it’s not what Mark had in his head initially, and that’s why he’s spoken very openly about his being caught off guard by the script and where the character ends up. But I knew this is where it had to be.
We got into the conversations, and we got into the work, and we talked, and we argued, and we discussed, and that process ended up being very good for the character and also for our working relationship. It was a very good one.
